BORDER CROSSING

The Western Canada Border is based on the 49th parallel.  Products entering North of this line requires the service of a Canada Custom’s Broker to complete the importation paperwork, charges, imposed by Canada Customs & Revenue.

These services charges are applicable on every shipment.  Canadian accounts watch closely, if they encounter multiple shipments inbound form a single vendor purchase order, as this may result in higher import costs and lower profit.

Nothing staying in Canada enters Canada free, with exception of personal shopping exemptions in a value not exceeding CASH $800.00.

All goods entering Canada must be valued in CASH value.  All values are charged a Federal 5% GST (Goods and Services Tax) or 13% HST (Harmonized Tax) payable at the time of crossing the border.  This applies to every item, including samples and catalog materials.

Products made in the USA or Mexico may enter the country “duty free” if accompanied by the vendor’s signed NAFTA Certificate stating the products applicable tariff item numbers, along with a commercial invoice.

Any product crossing the border from the USA that does qualify for a NAFTA exemption is subject to the applicable Canadian tariff, this can range from 1% to 25% of the value of product depending on Country of origin the product is manufactured.  This is payable at the time of entry.
